12 months out

About 12 months before your wedding day you want to start thinking about your overall wedding theme. Why? 7-8 months

If you are asking your guests to travel, you want to give them some notice, and that is why about 7 or 8 months prior to your wedding you want to get those save the dates in the mail. They do not have to have the full details that your wedding invitations will have, but you do want to give a date, the location and maybe even accommodation options.

3-6 months

Between 3 and 6 months prior to the big day you will need to order your wedding invitations. This will give you time to have them made prior to mailing them out four months before your wedding. While you are ordering your wedding invitations you may also want to order your other wedding stationery. If you go with a professional printer they can coordinate the design of your wedding invitations with your place-cards, programs, reply cards, and even your thank you notes. By coordinating all of your paper goods you will create a consistent design theme for your event which will only enhance your guest's experience.

While you may feel like your wedding planning is done when you walk down the aisle, the truth is that you still have one more job to complete. Chances are that you are going to get beautiful and thoughtful gifts from your guests, and you need to thank them. This is where those beautiful thank you notes that you ordered come in. You need to try to get all of your thank you notes out in about 2 months after you've said your I do's. However, the sooner that you can get them done the better, that way you can enjoy married life with no more wedding plans!
